■Features of Desmodromic 4V Desmodromic engine (forced valve open / close mechanism) The majority of motorcycles use camshafts and valve springs to open and close the intake and exhaust valves. The desmodromic mechanism forcibly opens and closes the valves by means of a specially shaped camshaft and rocker arms. The absence of valve springs prevents surging at high rpm, and the friction involved in camshaft drive is very low. SP Takegawa's Desmodromic 4V is designed with 8 rocker arms and 2 camshafts, cleverly placed like a precision machine within the limited stud bolt locations on the monkey. The characteristics of the desmodromic mechanism combined with SP Takegawa's cylinder head development technology have achieved the highest class intake and exhaust efficiency and high engine performance. With Desmodromic 4V, you will enjoy high power characteristics and engine response that you have never experienced after. Valve diameter IN: 22mm x 2 / EX: 19mm x 2 Exhaust port is the same position as the Monkey (carburetor model), so the standard lineup of exhausts can be used instead of a dedicated exhaust. Machined aluminum cylinder head covers All cylinder head covers are machined from aluminum and anodized silver for superior corrosion resistance. The anodizing process emphasizes the machined aluminum parts and makes the cylinder head look beautiful. A breather union is included for use with a breather hose. M8 spark plug: The M8 spark plug is adopted in line with the optimum valve pinching angle due to the 4-valve conversion and the compact head.
■Rocker arm () forced valve open / close mechanism It does not have valve springs, and the camshafts force the valves to open and close. Compared to the valve spring type, the valve spring type reduces the resistance of the valve train and eliminates valve surging at high RPM, resulting in high power output and engine response at high RPM. (Only the closing side has a spring to keep the valve in contact.)
■Camshafts (Kit Included Camshafts: 25 / 20) The camshafts of the forced valve open / close mechanism are equipped with cam mounts that perform "open" and "closed" actions independently of each other. The camshaft journal section has ball bearing support at both ends to reduce frictional resistance to the camshaft during startup and from low speeds.
■Φ54HA cylinder A temperature sensor can be connected to the side of the cylinder. Cylinder temperature can be measured by separately purchasing a thermometer with a temperature sensor made by SP Takegawa. *Temperature sensors vary from cylinder to cylinder. Please take note of this. *Boring of the crankcase is required to install a Φ54 cylinder. Φ54HA cylinder (all-aluminum ceramic-plated cylinder with excellent durability, airtightness, and heat dissipation) Compatible temperature sensor: M5 temperature sensor
■Piston For the 124cc piston, a forged aluminum piston with superior strength and durability is used.
■X-section connecting rods, 54mm longer stroke crankshaft (R-Type) X-section connecting rods are used. Forged material is machined and an X-section shape is adopted. Along with weight reduction, sufficient strength is ensured, and buckling stress diffusion and torsional rigidity are greatly improved. A special bearing with a larger bore diameter of the crankshaft journal bearing is used. This allows the shaft diameter at the journal, where stresses on the crankshaft are concentrated, to be increased in size from 20mm to 22mm, thereby increasing shaft strength.
