*The spring collar in the front fork needs to be cut off for the thickness of the BURRITO (14mm) *Installation on vehicles without a collar basically cannot be done (there are some exceptions) *Always control the amount of fork oil by the oil level, not by the amount of oil (the volume of BURRITO is about 20 cm3, but the product volume varies slightly depending on the fork diameter) *Tightening the bolt in the center of the product will increase the compression damping force, but be sure to tighten it no more than 1.5 turns from the initial position (over-tightening may cause oil lock and the fork may suddenly stop moving during operation, which is very dangerous)
There are many replacement parts available for motorcycle rear suspension, and many of them can be changed in detail. However, most of the front forks are not in the lineup or are extremely expensive. As many of you may know, there are two types of telescopic front forks, "Cartridge (inner rod) type" and "Floating valve type", because of the difference of their internal structure.
The cartridge type has a wide range of damping characteristics from high speed to low speed (stroke speed, not vehicle speed) and is easy to install damping adjustment mechanism.However, due to the large number of parts, the cost is high. On the other hand, the floating valve type can be manufactured at a low cost because of its simple mechanism.However, on the other hand, it is difficult to provide variable damping characteristics covering both high and low speed ranges like the cartridge type.It is also difficult to install an external damping adjustment mechanism. Until around the 1990s, the floating valve type was the mainstream, but in recent years, especially for sports models, the cartridge type has been adopted. Type has become the mainstream.The expensive replacement front forks are also of this cartridge type. However, in the new vehicle market these days, there are some high-end models with high cost, while there are more low-priced models with low cost, and this polarization is progressing. The former tends to have expensive fully adjustable cartridge forks, while the latter has the old-fashioned floating valve forks.
Therefore, NAG racing service has started to develop a floating valve type fork with a wide range of damping characteristics like a cartridge type, not only for old cars but also for recent low price models. The Neco-Ashi damper system "BURRITO" has been completed.
Such valves were already sold under the trade name of "Cartridge Emulator", but the conventional valves were mainly used to enhance the damping characteristics of the pressure side.
The damping characteristics not only on the compression side but also on the elongation side are important, so the damping characteristics of both compression and elongation are revised, and the structure(*) is prepared to enable the adjustment of them. If you have floating valve fork and you are not satisfied with its damping characteristics, or if you have installed replacement springs and you feel the damping is not enough, or if you have installed replacement rear suspension and you feel the balance with the front suspension has been lost, this is the part you should try.
(*) Damping on the elongation side can be adjusted by shims and valve thickness.
