■Features of Desmodromic Twin Cam 4V Head
・Desmodromic engine (forced valve open/close mechanism) The majority of motorcycles use camshafts and valve springs to open and close the intake and exhaust valves. The Desmodromic mechanism is a mechanism that forcibly opens and closes the valves by using a specially shaped camshaft and rocker arm. Since there is no valve spring, surging does not occur in the high RPM range and the friction related to the camshaft drive is very small. The SP Takegawa Desmodromic Twin Camshaft 4V is designed with 8 rocker arms and 2 camshafts that are arranged like a precision machine within the limited stud bolt positions of the Monkey. SP Takegawa's cylinder head development technology has been combined with the characteristics of the Desmodromic mechanism to achieve the highest class of intake and exhaust efficiency and high engine performance. With the Twin Cam Desmodromic 4V, you will enjoy high power characteristics and engine response that you have never experienced before.
・Valve diameter Intake: 22mm x 2 / exhaust: 19mm x 2 The exhaust port is located at the same position as that of the Monkey (carbureted) so that the standard exhaust can be used instead of the special exhaust.
・Machined aluminum cylinder head cover The cylinder head covers are all machined from aluminum and anodized in silver for superior corrosion resistance.In addition, the anodized aluminum emphasizes the machined aluminum parts and gives the cylinder head a beautiful appearance. A breather union is included for use with a breather hose.
・M8 Spark Plug The M8 spark plug was adopted in conjunction with the optimum valve pinching angle and the compactness of the head due to the 4-valve system.
■Rocker Arm/Hollow Camshaft
・Rocker arm (forced valve open/close mechanism) The valve opening and closing is forced by the camshaft without the valve spring. Compared to the valve spring type, it reduces the resistance of the valve train and eliminates the valve surging that occurs in the high RPM range, which results in higher output and engine response in the high RPM range.(A spring is provided on the closed side only to keep the valve in place)
・Hollow camshaft The camshafts of the forced valve open/close mechanism are equipped with cam mounts that act independently of each other. The camshaft journals are supported by ball bearings on both ends to reduce frictional resistance to the camshaft during starting and at low speeds. The camshafts supplied with the kit are the recommended camshafts for each engine displacement.
■Ceramic plated cylinder / piston The 125cc SCUT structure is patented.
・Bore diameter 57mm Adopts all-aluminum ceramic plated cylinder with excellent durability, airtightness and heat dissipation.The cylinder is equipped with a temperature sensor as standard.You can measure the cylinder temperature by purchasing SP Takegawa's thermometer built-in meter or thermometer.
・SCUT for 125cc: M5 Temperature Sensor The scut cylinder is equipped with an oil jet mechanism (patent pending) The oil jet cylinder is a cylinder that can inject oil into the cylinder and piston only by replacing the cylinder, without replacing the crankcase, disassembling the crankcase, processing the oil jet hole, or adding parts for oil jetting. By installing oil injection holes directly on the inner surface of the cylinder, oil can be injected into the piston skirt and the inner wall of the piston without interruption while the engine is running, and efficient lubrication and cooling can be achieved. 125cc models use cast pistons.The piston skirt is coated with molybdenum for better initial adhesion.
■Two-point support crankshaft Special bearings with a larger bore diameter of the journal bearing of the long stroke crankshaft are used to accommodate high power engines.This allows the shaft diameter to be increased from 20mm to 22mm in the journal area where the stress of the crankshaft is concentrated In addition, the crankshaft has been given a special surface treatment to further increase durability.
